Steam, Savants and the Kandris Seal Update

Clockwork CyborgSavants, Steam and the Kandris Seal has now entered the final stages of layout, and artwork is coming in. We managed to get the services of Storm Kerr for this project, and you’ll see an example of his work to the left of this text. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version of the picture.

We don’t have a firm date for the release of the d20 (3.5 e) version of the book, but it should be out by Gen Con in both pdf and hopefully print format.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Capers, Cliffhangers and the Kandris Seal Now Available!

Capers, Cliffhangers and the Kandris Seal

Did Someone Say “Heroes”?

Evil is eternal, but every age has its defenders. Return to an era when being a hero was a two-fisted affair, Tommy guns were the height of gangster innovation, and every episode ended on a cliffhanger. Here, masked avengers work beside canny private eyes; spacemen protect the stars, pilots fly the skies, and explorers delve into a hollowed-out Earth. Our world swells with the malevolence of the Thirteen and their human thralls, but they aren’t facing a new breed of heroes – these are the originals. Evil is pounding at the door between dimensions, but it isn’t just the Thaumaturgia ready to stand against them.

Capers, Cliffhangers, and the Kandris Seal provides the following, and then some:

  • An overview of the pulp and movie serial genres, and how to mix them up with a Kandris Seal setting
  • A timeline covering major world events from the Great Depression to Kennedy’s election, with suggestions on what plots might play out behind the scenes
  • A gazetteer that describes the world – and a few places not of this world – during the heyday
  • Tips on making setting-friendly heroes; a collection of hissable villains; and adventure seeds galore
  • Period-ready feats, skills, gadgets, and abilities

From steaming jungles to ice-capped peaks; from the desert Southwest to the bustle of New York City, adventure has no limits. Polish the paired Colt revolvers, don the domino mask, charge up some spells, and stick out that rugged chin. How will our heroes face this latest threat? Tune in to the next exciting chapter!

The Kandris Seal (d20 Modern) Now Available

The Kandris Seal d20 ModernFor centuries, a war has been fought in secret, hidden away from the public and covered up by powerful organizations. Our enemy is a race of demons from beyond the dimensional barrier that surrounds Earth. They seek to warp the world, to taint it with their magic, and through that taint, control it.

We are the Thaumaturgia, their greatest foe. The founder of our Order knew of the danger these demons posed to our world, for they were already here, working their evil and slowly taking over our world. He gathered around him powerful mages and created the Kandris Seal, an artifact that forced the demons back into their own dimension and keeps them out to this day.

The war has expanded beyond us now, with new powers entering the arena. Paranormals are being recruited or created by the demons and their followers, and it is starting to tip the balance in their favor. We must do as they have and start looking beyond our numbers to find allies. If we cannot tell them the truth about the war, then the least we can do is point them in the right direction…

The Kandris Seal is a modern d20 compatible campaign sourcebook and can be used as an independent campaign setting, or incorporated into an existing campaign world. It contains everything GMs and players need to adventure in the world of The Kandris Seal.

  • Full write ups of the Keepers of the Broken Circle, the demons trying to conquer Earth’s dimension, and the power they wield, known as Chaos
  • The history of the Thaumaturgia and information on how to create your own members of the Order.
  • How to create characters touched by the Chaos Taint.
  • New spells and magic items
  • Over 50 character write ups
  • Information on how to adapt The Kandris Seal to your campaign
  • Four adventures and ten adventure seeds

The Kandris Seal, Revised

I spent last week going over The Kandris Seal, adding in more art, fixing the layout and getting it ready for printing through Lulu. Right now it’s being checked over by another set of eyes to find things I missed. When I get the corrections back, I’ll make the announcement here.

This week, I’ll be working on getting the Pulp Kandris Seal book into layout, and getting the project previously known as the Temple of Demilune for the upcoming Kolrath setting together for publication.

Steam, Savants and the Kandris Seal

Editing and layout of Steam, Savants and the Kandris Seal, the Steampunk genre book for The Kandris Seal has begun. I am very pleased with the manuscript Bill handed in. He’s coming up with a bit more material for me to round things out. Once I’ve got that, I need to get in gear (ha ha) and get the art done so we can get this steam-powered puppy out the door and into the marketplace.
